FAQs

  • SUPERNOVA Jr is committed to providing publication opportunities for students across all participating grade levels. Because scientific knowledge, writing ability, research experience, and academic expectations develop significantly between Grades 6th and 9th, submissions are evaluated within the context of the student's grade level and educational experience.

Students are not expected to demonstrate the same level of scientific sophistication across all grades. Reviewers and editors consider age-appropriate expectations when evaluating submissions.

    As a result:

    • The journal seeks to represent student voices from all grade levels.

    • Publication decisions are therefore based on the quality of the work relative to the student's educational stage rather than direct comparison with older students.

    • SUPERNOVA Jr recognizes that scientific growth is a developmental process and values curiosity, effort, and scientific thinking at every level.
